1915 Graduation of Ida Emma Kraus

In 1915, Ida Emma Kraus, daughter of Fred and Katie Kraus (and sister of Esther Kraus) graduated from Columbia Public School.

Link to graduation program.

This appears to have been an elaborate ceremony for the 12 graduating 15-year-olds, with music performed by the Columbia Orchestra and the Columbia Octet. The class motto: "Labor Has Sure Reward".

Fred Krauss, presumably Ida's father, must have been especially proud , because he was a member of the board of education.

Note that Ida's last name is listed as "Krauss" rather than "Kraus". Ida's grandparents and great-grandparents spelled their name Krauss or Krauß (the German spelling). By her father's generation, the spelling "Kraus" was typically used, but this varied according to the document.
